Welcome to Year 2's class page where you can keep up to date with our exciting adventures and activities.
We are really enjoying our chess lessons with Mr Hawkins. We are learning lots of posititional language, problem solving skills, sportsmanship and improving our concentration.
In Science we have been learning about how to look after our bodies. We did an investigation using glitter to simulate how we spread germs from our hands onto our work, our desks, our faces and even our friends. We learned how to wash our hands properly so we can get rid of as many germs as possible and stay healthy.
We had a really interesting assembly from the NSPCC and buddy the full stop. We learned about the people who keep us safe and who we can talk to if we are worried about anything.
Rock and River Archery
The children had an amazing time becoming archers, like Robin Hood and Merida. Mrs Kirkham is hoping to have inspired some future Olympic archers. We hope you enjoy our photographs and are as proud of the children as we are.
Rock and River- Den Building
We worked as a team to build dens. We worked really hard to make our dens functional by including bedrooms, seating areas and even a dining table. One group decorated their den with flowers while another found a 'book' and made a story seat so they could take turns telling each other stories. It was great practice for our communication skills, team work and leadership skills. Eddie (Our Rock and River guide) said they were so good he was considering moving into them. Have a look at our photographs and let us know what you think.
Rock and River- Rock Climbing
We loved learning how to rock climb and lots of us were proud of ourselves for reaching the green line. The instructor showed us how to wear a safety harness and then we were able to climb all the way to the top of the wall. Mrs Kirkham took so many photos that they wouldn't all fit in one video! We played shark and ran around on the inflatable floor pretending to be swimming in the sea, when the instructor shouted sharks are coming we had to get off the floor and up on the walls. It was a fantastic game and we are hoping to play this and many other games when we return in the summer for our sleepover.
