The Class Teacher is Mrs Moon
We are all enjoying being back in school in our new class, Year 1/2 with our teacher Mrs Moon. We also have Mrs Ball and Mrs Parkola helping us with our learning during the day.
In Year 1/2, we love to ‘give it a go’! We support each other and encourage our friends to keep trying. We like to be proud of our achievements, celebrate our strengths and love seeing our hard work.
During Year 1/2 children will develop their skills, knowledge and curiosity across all areas of the curriculum. We will explore new topics that engage the children including The Great Fire of London, the Explorers and Castles. We will encourage children to develop a growth mindset and utilise the power of yet. We already have a long list of achievements that we want to accomplish this year; watch this space!
The talents of children in our class will be nurtured. Through exciting and engaging lessons these amazing individuals will develop and grow. Our children will learn skills for life through the teaching of a broad and creative curriculum. The mental health and wellbeing of children in our class is of great importance and we aim to create a happy and inclusive classroom.
Positive relationships with our parents and their support in hearing their child read regularly will ensure it is a successful and enjoyable year for all.
We will encourage lots of participation in a wide range of differentiated practical and written activities; co-operation in group tasks, focus on independent studies and a desire to learn and achieve, whilst continuing to develop our ‘Growth Mindset’ strategies.
We will continue to work with the children, advising them how to ‘fix’ or improve their work and encouraging them to aim high and to always try their best.
Excellent behaviour, a positive attitude to work, good progress and successfully completed tasks will be rewarded with ‘Class Dojo's', stickers or notes home. The ‘Star of the Week’ award assembly is the highlight of the week especially for the two lucky recipients!
READING – this is your number one priority! Please try and read every night at home and record it in your reading record. Your book must be signed at least 3 x a week by an adult at home and this will be checked in school every week.
Short, regular reading sessions really make a difference to the progress your child makes.
Books should be brought into school on Friday only. New books will be given out on a Monday.
P.E. Days are Tuesday and Thursday. Please come into school wearing your P.E kits.
